UN watchdog cites Angono’s waste management program
A United Nations Organization watchdog recently commended the Municipality of Angono, Rizal and seven (7) other towns/cities in the country for its remarkable steps in achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
The MDG Achievement Fund cited Angono for its admiring waste management program and for constructing the Angono Eco-Park, which used to be the town’s transfer station/dumpsite area near Laguna Lake.

Angono and other Rizal towns to host NCCA’s February 2012 Philippine Visual Arts Festival
The town of Angono, Rizal, has always been regarded as the Art Capital of the Philippines—the home of Petroglyphs, home of masters such as Carlos “Botong” Francisco and Maestro Lucio San Pedro, and contemporary artists who imprinted their name in the Philippine art scene, like Nemiranda, Bobit Andres, Lito Balagtas, Salvador Juban, Keiye Miranda, Mike Tuazon, Weng Unidad, Pepito Villaluz, Perdigon Vocalan, and the Blanco Family.

“Higante” parade, nat’l art exhibit mark 2012 PVAF opening
A parade of Angono, Rizal’s “Higante” or giant paper mache on Feb. 17 will welcome around 200 artists nationwide who will participate in one of the biggest art events to be hosted by this town known as the “Art Capital of the Philippines” and the province of Rizal.

Neo-Angono Artists' skin art/tattoo conference and competition on Feb. 17-18
On February 17-18, 2012, the Neo-Angono Artists Collective continues its art practice and advocacy of bringing art closer to the public and creating new perception.
Titled “FOLKTAGLYPHS: Tracing Resonant Cartographies Through Contemporary Eyes,” the event serves as the second phase of the group’s 8th Neo-Angono Public Art Festival and is presented alongside the 2012 Philippine Visual Arts Festival: The Rizal Experience by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). read more
